Middle School Design Workshops

I had very little interest in art growing up. As a matter of fact, I wanted to be an accountant until my junior year of high school. That year is when I decided to create my own t-shirt. This desire made me change my future college major and introduced me to the world of graphic design. Prior to this, I had no idea that being a graphic designer was a possibility. Since then I’ve earned a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design and have been designing professionally for almost a decade.

I’ve always loved assisting people and I knew that their were children like me who didn’t know graphic design was possible career choice. So in 2021 I began visiting middle schools and high schools to teach students about the world of graphic design and how to make a career from it. After teaching the students about graphic design, I lead them through a workshop where I teach the class how to design their own logo so they could one day create their own t-shirt or company for themselves like I did in high school.

Movie Night Pop-Up

Building and nourishing authentic community spaces is apart of my DNA. Last October (2024), I hosted my first free Movie Night Pop-up for my clothing brand at a local theater in Brooklyn. Guests were invited to eat, drink, laugh, and watch Stephen King’s Cujo (1983), the movie that served as inspiration behind my latest capsule, Fear We Breed. There was also a Halloween costume drive where we accepted costume donations for a local middle school in Brooklyn.

Cujo terrified me as a kid and ignited my fear of dogs for many years to follow. The capsule was inspired by the intense feelings one experiences when they are afraid and the power that comes when you embrace your fears. I’m a big fan of Halloween and horror movies, so I wanted to create a fun and free opportunity for supporters of my brand to come out and celebrate spooky season, shop my latest capsule if they’d like, and help middle schoolers have Halloween costumes for trick-or-treat season.

Roller skating

If I’m not designing, or watching a horror movie, I’m probably roller skating. I usually went roller skating once a year growing up during Catholic Schools Week. I picked up skating again after college which led to me purchasing my first pair of roller skates in 2019. Fast forward to 2025 and I’ve been roller skating 2-4 times a week since 2019. This passion has led to opportunities such as roller skating in a New York Fashion Week show, traveling to skate parties—also known as skate jams—across the US and in Europe, modeling for editorial fashion shoots, and hosting a pop-up for a capsule at the skate shop that sold me my first pair of roller skates.

The sport of roller skating helps me stay active. It clears my mind after a long day. Sometimes I even find the solution to a design problem at the roller skate rink. Deion Sanders once said “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you [skate] good.” There’s no better feeling than putting on a nice outfit, lacing up your skates, and stepping on the floor to your favorite music.
